James Gunn has confirmed that Amanda Waller will be returning in another DC project, and Peacemaker Season 2 will be put on hold for a time. Waller, a new DC series, will feature the characters currently starring in Peacemaker, as a continuation of where the first season ended.
This new series will be produced by Jeremy Carver, the creator of the Doom Patrol series which is coming to an end this year. There’s no release date for Waller just yet but it’s likely to land before Superman: Legacy in July 2025. Gunn has called the show “The greatest ever”. If Gunn’s Peacemaker show and Carver’s wonderful Doom Patrol are anything to go by, then it very well could be. We wonder what they have lined up for such a difficult character and one who’s in charge of many, many unique villains.
Waller was last seen in Black Adam, appearing in several of the key moments and even the end credits. Viola Davis first stepped in as the Wall in the 2016 Suicide Squad movie, and again in Gunn’s 2021 The Suicide Squad. In the comics, Amanda Waller has her fingers in a whole lot of pies and knows as much about each hero and their secret identity as Batman does. Maybe more, actually.
Waller will form part of the new DC Studios slate, announced by Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran called the DCU Chapter one: Gods and Monsters.
Are you looking forward to Waller and Peacemaker? Are you excited to see what new chaos they bring to the DC Universe? Have you seen what is in store for the DC Universe? Tell us in the comments.
