Batman: Beyond The White Knight #7 is a fantastic issue that takes you on an emotional journey and will leave you desperate for more!

The Second Son

Sean Murphy’s back in fine form. This issue delivers everything that we’ve been waiting for, asking for, and didn’t even know we needed, all in one. At the end of the last issue, we saw Nightwing take a possibly fatal hit. So, the natural place for us to start this issue is his origin.

All fans of the White Knight universe should know by now, in this reality, Dick Grayson was the second Robin. Jason Todd was the original and he suffered the same fate he did on our world, at the hands of the Joker. However, if Jason was the first that must have a ripple effect on all the other Robins. I only just realized that with this issue.

Dick being second means that the only person that was Robin before he was, died. This also clarifies why we haven’t seen Tim Drake. If the first Teen Wonder died and then after that, no Robin died again, why would there be a reason for yet another one? Sometimes even I take a second or two to put all the pieces together.

Having this dynamic really does change the relationship between Bruce and his adoptive sons. I, for one, can’t get enough.

The art was, as per usual, great in all its Murphy glory. My only complaint was giving Terry McGinnis vampire teeth for one blurry rage-filled panel. It just felt like something that wasn’t needed, but we’re not going to linger on that as the rest of the art was sublime!

Slow Mo Team Up Moment

After my weeks of badgering and whining about not enough Terry McGinnis, here we are ladies and gents! We finally get the Schwayest guy in town kicking @$$ and taking names, Batman Beyond style. He’s fighting Blight and really showing us what an advanced tech Bat-suit is capable of! Fantastic!

It’s tough to talk about much else in this issue without spoilers, so I’ll just say that there’s emotion, triumph, shock, and laughter. This is an issue that you don’t want to miss if you’re a fan of the Bat Family, Batman Beyond, or just awesome storytelling!

Conclusion

Batman: Beyond The White Knight #7 is right up there with the previous issue, and I cannot wait to see what issue eight has in store for us!
