Kevin Conroy Thanks Fans Of “Finding Batman”

Actor Kevin Conroy, best known for his voice work as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the seminal Batman: The Animated Series, has posted a moving thank you message to fans of his story “Finding Batman”, from DC Pride 2022.

With pride

DC Pride 2022 has proven to be a huge critical success. It’s also an honest and hopeful celebration of diversity in the world of both the superheroes in the stories, and all of the writers, artists, and fans they inspire.

The world is experiencing a time when so many groups of vulnerable people seem to be under attack from opportunistic politicians and media figures, and even avowed hate groups and fascists. Events like DC Pride, and especially the touching personal narrative by Kevin Conroy in “Finding Batman“, help us remember that are differences and vulnerabilities can make us stronger. That is is our responsibility as good and decent people, to live up to the ideals of our heroes and protect and inspire each in the never ending fight for truth and justice.

Did you ever know that you’re my hero?

Kevin Conroy probably did not expect the outpouring of love and gratitude that followed the publication of “Finding Batman”, but it has touched him deeply. He made himself incredibly vulnerable in recounting his family troubles and the discrimination he’s faced as a gay man, throughout his career. The wonderful outcome is that he ‘s adamant that those trials helped him become the voice of Batman for multiple generations of fans.

Here is a transcript of his heartfelt thanks to fans around the world, as well as his co-creators:

Hi, this is Kevin Conroy. I just wanted to take a second to thank all of you for the reactions that I’ve been getting to the story that I wrote for DC Pride. It’s been overwhelming, and it is so appreciated.

You know, whenever you share something that personal, you risk, and you all made that risk so worthwhile because the support and the appreciation has been extraordinary. I just wanted to make sure you knew that.

I also wanted to take a second to thank the people at DC who worked with me on this. J. Bone, Arianna Turturro, Jessica Chen, and Aditya Bidikar. They were so supportive and helpful. But again, never underestimate how much I appreciate each and every one of you and what you give me back for my performances. It means the world to me.

Take care
