The World’s First Fully Functioning Electric Batmobile Is REAL

In 2017, artist Nguyen Dac Chung founded Macro Studios, a Vietnam-based cosplay company with a relentless focus on realism and attention to detail. A graduate of the Hanoi University of Architecture, the now-23-year-old Nguyen has spent the last half-decade honing his skills in this space, giving him the confidence and technical abilities needed to carry out Macro Studios’ most ambitious project to date, pivoting away from custom replica costume production to deliver the world’s first fully functioning electric Batmobile.

According to artist Nguyen Dac Chung, Macro Studios was able to recreate the iconic movie vehicle using the original blueprints from the film although, the replica is smaller in size. Naturally, the result is a near dead-on replica of the six-wheeled Tumbler from Batman Begins, albeit with an added green twist.

The 5.7-liter V8 from the original vehicle has instead been swapped out for an electric powertrain and dual Lithium-ion batteries, that allow the 1,322-lb beast to push the speedo to 65mph. The original Tumbler from Batman Begins weighed a whopping 5,000-lbs so the replica needed to be a lot lighter to enable it to move, whereas the green version features a replica tubular steel chassis, though the movie version’s metal bodywork has been jettisoned in favor of ABS plastic, carbon fiber, and various composite panels.

The Macro Studios Batmobile replica is currently on display at the Van Daryl automotive gallery in Ho Chi Minh City, but incredibly, it’s not a one-off. The studio has confirmed that it will be taking orders for the Tumbler, with interested parties being directed to contact the company via its website for further information on pricing, build times, and availability.

I can’t drive but if I could I would definitely want this electric Batmobile. I have a feeling the waiting list for this replica is going to be absolutely huge.
