The Batman continues to perform well at the box office, grabbing an extra $66 million in domestic sales.
At the North American box office, the film had a modest decline in its 2nd weekend, dropping 50.1% in audience attendance during its sophomore week. This is a typical slump for a superhero blockbuster. For comparison’s sake, Justice League had a 57% 2nd-weekend audience drop in 2017. An even more dramatic example is 2016’s Batman v Superman’s 70% second-week free-fall.
The Batman also made it past the $200 million milestone mark, to make a domestic total of $238.5 million. It also added another $66.6 mil internationally. Those revenues bring the film’s tally to $224.7 million overseas, making the grand total box office $463 mil after only ten days. This also puts the movie on track to pass the $500 million mark in another week or so.
So far, only four other films have crossed the $500 million benchmark in the post-pandemic era. These include Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s $1.86 billion, No Time to Die with $774 mil, F9: The Fast Saga with $726 mil, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage‘s $502 mil.
More exciting news for The Batman is the expected ticket boost when it gets released in China in late March.
The Batman is now playing in theaters. It will also stream on HBO Max on April 19, 2022.
