The festive period has flown by and now we get a chance to see how the Bat-Family does things in Batman: Wayne Family Adventures. A new chapter is released on WebToon every Thursday, they’re great if you ever need to take a few minutes to relax.
I Have A Cow
As it turns out, family game night for the Bat-Family is about as dangerous as fighting villains in Gotham. This honestly isn’t that surprising since they’re a “Go big or go home” kind of family. With two sacrifices volunteers to keep Bruce and Alfred distracted, the games begin and the loser is in for a world of humiliation.
As always, nothing gets in the way of family, as they all come together to help Damian when he sets out to make a friend. Blurting out “I have a cow”, surprisingly, only gets you weird looks. Out of all the advice they give though, Jason’s way of making friends is clearly the best route:
I broke my best friend out of jail.
The Christmas season has come and gone so, of course, we have a chapter set around it. Not everyone needs a costume to be a hero, not even the heroes. Performing small acts of kindness around Gotham in the spirit of Christmas also makes Bruce incredibly proud of his many children. In this chapter, we also get a brief glimpse of Luke Fox (Batwing), so hopefully, he’ll be back again in a few more chapters.
Conclusion
Seeing so many sides of the Bat-family is always refreshing, but the small, human issues they face really hit home, mainly due to their superhero status. Damian would rather fight all of Gothams’ villains than try to make friends with someone his own age, which isn’t something most children or young teens even have to think about. For a trained assassin who only has one friend, mostly because he can’t stab him, it’s terrifying. He eventually does make a friend, one who’s human and he can’t stab, so it’ll be nice to see how that friendship goes for him.
