The New Zealand Mint Chibi Coin Collection was launched with DC superhero Batman back in 2020, and it sold out in hours! Thankfully Sideshow Collectibles have revealed a new 2021 flying Batman coin for everyone that missed out.
This coin is different to the last one, which featured Batman in a standing pose, but I far prefer this flying version.
This 1oz of pure silver has been shaped and colored to show Batman in action, his cape streaming behind him as he flies into battle. On the reverse is the Ian Rank Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, confirming it as a legal tender coin.
The piece comes in a Batman-themed outer box which includes a large window so you can easily display this precious collectible. I really like the fact that the packaging is also themed with the same colours as the Batsuit and the Gotham skyline in the background. Only 2,000 are available worldwide, making them very limited editions indeed.
The coin’s unique number in the mintage can be found on the box.
The coin measures approximately:
- Height: 1.4″ (3.6 cm)
- Width: 1.41″ (3.6 cm)
- and the size of the box that the coin comes in is approximately:
- Height: 1.00″ (2.5 cm)
- Width: 3.00″ (7.6 cm)
- Depth: 4.75″ (12.1 cm).
As I mentioned before the coin is legal tender and denomination of the coin is $2 but I can’t imagine anyone would want to spend this, as they are priced at $99/£74.03 each.
As well as this brand new Batman coin, there are also other DC Comics silver chibi coins available; these include:
- Wonder Woman
- Aquaman
- Green Lantern
- Deathstroke
- Catwoman
- Supergirl
All of these coins are extremely cute. I really love the chibi character designs and I think that they would look fantastic in anyone’s collection. The new Batman coin is now available to order from Sideshow Collectibles, as are the other coins in the collection.
