Royal Mail Launches New DC Comics Stamp Collection

Royal Mail has launched a brand new stamp collection paying tribute to DC Comics Super Heroes, Super-Villains, and dramatic storylines. There are 40 items in the collection, which are due for release on September 17th.

First up is the double-sided DC presentation pack, which focuses on Batman, his allies, villains, and other characters that fall in between. Also included in this pack are 12 Special Stamps and a Stamp Sheet, on a separate information card, outlining the Super Heroes of the Justice League.

The DC collection stamp set includes 12 First-class stamps with illustrations of Batman, Batwoman, Robin, Batgirl, Alfred, Nightwing, The Joker, Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and The Riddler. They come with an information card with black and white sketches of each stamp and information about each of the characters.

The Justice League stamp sheet comes with 6 first-class stamps with illustrations of Batman, Green Lantern and The Flash, Wonder Woman, Superman, Cyborg and Aquaman, Supergirl, and Shazam!. The sheet comes presented on card with biographies of each character on the reverse of the card.

The illustrations on the stamps are highly detailed, bright and vibrant, and look as though they’ve been ripped straight from the pages of a comic book. Both sets of stamps are available to purchase separately, or framed. The images of the DC collection are also available to buy as postcards or as full or half stamp sheets. The full stamps sheets have 60 first-class stamps and the half sheets have 30.

The sets are also available as part of a prestige stamp book a vividly illustrated, bumper 24-page book of facts about the DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains who feature on the official DC Collection. There’s also an exclusive version of the Prestige Stamp Book. A 24-page publication containing five panes of stamps presented in a limited edition box with a certificate of authenticity. This exclusive version is limited to 1,939 copies worldwide.

The collection also includes Batman and Wonder Woman silver and gold plated medals. The silver proof medal showcases the newly-illustrated Wonder Woman and Batman stamp designs, and they feature the iconic Wonder Woman logo and Batman logo on the back. They’re both presented in black boxes with the logos embossed on the box and are limited to 750 pieces.

The Batman gold plated medal has the Batman illustration on the front and logo on the back and comes with a Batman-themed envelope. This set and also features an insert chronicling Batman’s history. The Wonder Woman gold plated medal has the illustration of WW on the front, the logo on the back, and comes with the Justice League stamps sheet and an insert that delves into Wonder Woman’s past. Both gold-plated medals are limited to 5000 sets.

There are also a few framed prints, framed sheets, and stamp books available as part of the collection. All these items would be great collectibles for any DC Comics fan. Although I’m not a collector myself, I’ve ordered the presentation pack, as, out of all the items in the collection, I think that it’s probably the best value. You get both sets of stamps for an affordable price.

All items are currently available to pre-order from the Royal Mail website and will be released on September 17th. Worldwide delivery is also available.
