James Gunn Reveals Cut Villains from ‘The Suicide Squad’

The Suicide Squad director James Gunn revealed the list of villains that did not make it into the movie.

On Twitter, Gunn made a list of villains that he could not fit in the film. When fans asked Gunn who did he wish he could put into the movie, but couldn’t the director gave a list of images featuring both obscure and well-known foes.

The list includes top-tier villains, like Deathstroke, Mr. Freeze, or Solomon Grundy. We also had some mid-tier villains or Suicide Squad regulars, like Livewire, Bronze Tiger, Plastique, Black Spider, Chemo, KG Beast, and Man-Bat. And then there are some virtual unknowns like, Punch, Jewelee, Knockout, Gunhawk, and the Rainbow Creature.

While they did not make the latest line-up, Gunn also said that he is always opened to using these characters in future movies.

James Gunn and the Characters Already in the DCEU

Some  Gunn’s rejected villains are interesting choices. Particularly, Deathstroke being an option, since he made his DCEU debut in the end of Justice League played by Joe Manganiello. Deathstroke was also an option to be the primary protagonist for Ben Affleck’s Batman film before Affleck left the project completely.

A version of the KG Beast also appeared in Batman v Superman, although it was a character completely stripped of any extraordinary traits and acted like a generic henchman.

Here is hoping that James Gunn is able to use some of the rejected characters for future movies.

The Suicide Squad hits theaters and HBO Max in the US on August 6, 2021.
