‘Teen Titans Go!’ Makes Fun of Jared Leto’s Joker

Among the modern DC film slate, David Ayer’s Suicide Squad remains one of the most divisive films not directed by Zack Snyder. Chief among the many gripes about the movie was Jared Leto’s Joker. His admittedly creative take on the Clown Prince of Crime was not very well received and has since become the butt of many jokes. Let’s add another to the list with Teen Titans Go! taking a crack at it as well.

Teen Titans Go! is often unfavorably compared to its more cerebral counterpart, it’s still a pretty interesting take on the characters. Overall, the series opted to ditch the complex and rich storytelling for cartoon hijinx. However, it does stand apart from other slapstick animated series on Cartoon Network mostly for its fourth-wall-breaking, character skewering of the DC universe. It’s pretty great satire for DC fans. Earlier this month, the show took its own shot at Jared Leto’s Joker, and it was pretty funny.

Teen Titans Go! on Jared Leto’s Joker

In an episode titled “Pig in a Poke,” Starfire falls victim to an Internet scam and loses all her money, to none other than the Joker. The Titans take action by trying to infiltrate the villain’s compound. To do so, they try to get a password by fooling the Joker’s guard by using impersonations of the more famous Jokers in media.

Take a look:

Cyborg and Beast Boy manage some pretty awesome impressions of Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger’s Joker respectively. Both are successful in fooling the guard, until Robin tries Jared Leto’s Joker. Not only does the guard immediately see through the ruse, but he gets quite the criticism from Cyborg. According to Victor Stone,

You can’t just put on some tattoos and some fake teeth and make me think that you some kind of crazy person.

So, it’s not necessarily his performance, but more so his appearance. Good point, Cyborg. Thankfully, Beast Boy jumps in with a great Mark Hamill impression and all is well.

Maybe one day, the Titans can whip up a Joaquin Phoenix Joker impression. “You get what you f@(#ing deserve.” That would be pretty great.

How do you feel about Teen Titans Go! making fun of Jared Leto’s Joker? Do you agree with the assessment? Did you find it funny? Let us know.
