Thankfully, after the DC Universe streaming service converted into a digital comics app, all of our favorite series made the transition over to HBO Max. Though knowing about season 3 for ages now, fans haven’t seen any new Titans episodes since November of 2019. Everyone can now breathe a little easier knowing that we finally have a release month for the upcoming third season.
No, I haven’t made a mistake, news earlier this week only gave us the release month and not any specific date, after a year and a half, I think we’re going to have to appreciate whatever they want to reveal… which was pretty cool. Posted to the official Titans Twitter, we got a nifty video compilation of various selfie-shot messages from the cast on the set, hyping up the upcoming season and revealing the release month.

It was a bit buried in all the faces and chatter, but we now know that Titans season 3 will premiere on HBO Max (in the US) in August. As I said, no specific date was given, so it’s a bit jarring that they made this huge announcement without any real date to look forward to. It’s not something I recall encountering too often, so I don’t really have any plausible educated guesses here as to why no specific date was announced… or why they didn’t just wait until a date was selected before filming and releasing this video. Perhaps the postproduction is running into a ton of unexpected delays that are preventing a date commitment?
A release month?
Either way, the video was pretty cool. The cast, consisting of old and new faces, all filmed themselves to deliver a message to anticipate the upcoming season. Overall, lots of buzzwords like “dark, mysterious, exciting, heartbreaking, action-packed, fun, and bananas” were thrown around that should help to raise your excitement levels.
In order we see:
- Brenton Thwaites – Dick Grayson/Nightwing
- Savannah Welch – Barbara Gordon/Batgirl/Oracle
- Alan Ritchson – Hank Hall/ Hawk
- Anna Diop – Starfire
- Joshua Orpin – Connor/Superboy
- Damaris Lewis – Blackfire
- Curran Walters – Jason Todd/Red Hood
- Jay Lycurgo – Tim Drake
- Teagan Croft – Rachel Roth/Raven
- Minka Kelly – Dawn Granger/Dove
- Vincent Kartheiser – Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow
There are also a couple of faces that didn’t introduce themselves that I’m having trouble placing. Please be sure to shame and inform me of who they are in the comments below. Regardless, seeing the new faces introducing themselves as characters Batfans and comic book fans know and love was pretty darn cool.
We know so much about this season that it’s a wonder it took as long as it did to produce and find a premiere date. I also found it pretty funny that Curran Walters specifically introduced himself as Red Hood. You can tell he’s pretty excited to be playing that character.
Are you excited for season 3 of Titans? Why do you suppose we only got a release month? Let me know your thoughts.
Stay tuned to DKN for more details.
