‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ Animated Series From Matt Reeves, Bruce Timm and J.J. Abrams Announced For HBO Max

Bruce Timm, one of the legendary creators behind the legendary Batman: The Animated Series will be joining Matt Reeves – director of the forthcoming blockbuster The Batman – and Cinema Giant J.J. Abrams – Mission Impossible, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – to bring an all-new series to HBOMax: Batman: Caped Crusader.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story about the new project, and the excitement from Abrams and Warner execs mirror our own.

J.J. Abrams:

We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City. The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.

Bruce Timm was instrumental in bringing the Dark Knight to TV screens in the now immortal show, Batman: The Animated Series, so having him involved in Batman: Caped Crusader will have many fans feeling positive about the show.

Batman: The Animated Series was a masterpiece that shaped the perception of the character for an entire generation of fans. It is in that spirit that we are bringing together three master storytellers in J.J., Matt and Bruce – each with their own intuitive understanding and affection for the character – to create a new series that will continue in the same groundbreaking legacy.
