Jason Todd himself, Curran Waters, shares a set photo that teases Titans spilling to the outskirts of Gotham City.
While things have been rather quiet for Titans Season 3, filming is still underway. Curran Waters, who plays Jason Todd/Robin/Red Hood in the show, shared a set photo to shows the team will be visiting on the edge of Gotham City’s borders.
The most surprising thing is seeing the sun with anything related to Gotham. Other than that, there is very little to gleam from this photo. Could the rusted sign mean something? Is Gotham in such disarray that it’s falling apart from the inside out? Or is it just a really old sign that could use some replacing?
The conversation about Titans Season 3 really should focus on its sudden obsession with Batman. A show that was once about its lead character, Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites), trying to find his way out of the Bat’s shadow. More or less, Grayson seemed to have found himself at the end of Season 2 when he donned the costume of Nightwing. While it makes a degree of sense to want to lean on the history of Batman and Gotham, Titans has enough going on where it can tell its own stories.
With characters from both the old Titans team (Hawk, Donna Troy, and Dove) and the new (Raven, Beast Boy, Starfire, Jason Todd, Rose Wilson, and Conner Kent), the show has plenty of its own stories to tell. Bringing the show to Gotham allows the show to lean into Batman too much. It’s already been confirmed that Barbara Gordon and Tim Drake will be part of the new season, along with the classic Bat-villain Scarecrow.
What do you think? Should Titans lean into Batman and Gotham or emerge from its shadow and forge its own destiny? Let us know in the comments below!
