Sideshow Collectibles ‘Batman: The Long Halloween’ Fine Art Print Up for Pre-Order

Article by Adam Poncharoensub

Just in time for the post-Christmas, pre-Valentine’s Day season! (No, that’s not a thing, but is there really need for an occasion for gifts?) But holidays are important to point out, aren’t they? Especially with this new piece up for pre-order. Sideshow Collectibles, suppliers of fine statues, toys, and prints, strike again with a Batman: The Long Halloween fine art print. Spoiler alert: It’s gorgeous.

On page 20 of Batman: The Long Halloween, there lies a splash page featuring Solomon Grundy, the Mad Hatter, the Joker, Two-Face, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, and Catwoman all anticipating the arrival of Carmine Falcone. It was a goosebump-inducing reveal to see all these rogues gathered together in Tim Sale’s trademark aesthetic. Sideshow Collectibles has Alex Garner recreating that splash page in a more realistic take. The pencils, lighting, and colors are, as expected, breathtaking.

Take a look at the fine art print below:

“TRICK OR TREAT.”

Sideshow presents the Batman: The Long Halloween Fine Art Print by acclaimed illustrator Alex Garner after Tim Sale.

In this vibrant homage to Tim Sale’s iconic splash page from the conclusion of the Batman: The Long Halloween saga, artist Alex Garner skillfully recreates each criminal character in the composition with stunning, lifelike detail. Dynamic lighting gives the scene great tension, casting menacing shadows across the faces of villains like the Mad Hatter, Solomon Grundy, the Joker, Two-Face, the Penguin, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, and Catwoman in their early days of terrorizing Gotham. United to confront the Dark Knight, the rogues gallery transcends into a cadre of full-fledged supervillains, each smiling or sneering in anticipation of Batman’s next strike.

Each Batman: The Long Halloween Fine Art Print features an authorized, automated artist signature as well as an embossed Seal of Authenticity as a part of the limited edition of 450 pieces. The illustration also has several Easter eggs hidden throughout the scene, so put your detective skills to the test and see what you can spot. Batman fans do not want to miss Garner’s dazzlingly detailed recreation of this iconic DC Comics moment!

While I’m more partial to the twisted, cartoony style of Tim Sale, you can’t deny how beautiful this piece is. The lighting through the blinds and the lamp really bring even more life into the scene. So, if we can just get the original Tim Sale art re-inked to look closer to this, I’ll be happy.

Limited to 450 prints, any fans of TLH should pre-order as soon as possible. The Batman: The Long Halloween fine art print is expected to ship in January 2021. It starts at $95, but can be framed and printed on canvas for an additional fee. You can pre-order here.
