‘The Batman’ Production Allowed to Continue Despite UK Lockdown

The Bat Bubble?

The Batman has had a lot of production hiccups due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it looks as though it will be able to avoid the latest speed bump. On Saturday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a new UK lockdown which will run from Nov. 5 to Dec. 2, with possible further extensions. This will run a bit differently from the previous nationwide shut-in, however, as schools will be allowed to remain open, and some people that can not work from home (WFH) will be allowed to continue working.

A Caveat…

That last point is the one that will allow The Batman to avoid another shutdown.

Following the announcement, Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden clarified that where WFH isn’t possible:

Travel to a place of work will be permitted – e.g. this includes (but not exhaustive) elite sport played behind closed doors, film & TV production, telecoms workers.

Film and television productions have already implemented strict coronavirus measures, ranging from multiple tests a week, to limiting personal interactions. It ‘s doubtful that any further restrictions will need to be put into place, but if there are, they will more than likely be minimal.

Thoughts….

At this point, our anticipation for this movie is at an all time high. However, it now appears that we are over a year away. UK lockdown or not, The Batman shooting schedule seems to be humming along.

The Batman is scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022.
