Robert Pattinson Cleared Of COVID-19 ‘The Batman’ Resumes Production

Article by Chris Foti

At the beginning of the month, The Batman resumed production after it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, after only 3 days back, production had to be suspended again due to a member of the production testing positive. It was then revealed it was Robert Pattinson himself who tested positive.

It is now being reported, that Pattinson has been given the all-clear to resume production. A Warner Bros. rep gave the following statement:

Following a hiatus of COVID-19 quarantine precautions, filming has now resumed on The Batman in the U.K.

Pattinson was seen walking around in London earlier this week, accompanied by his girlfriend. Essentially confirming his self-isolation period is over.

It’s been reported that during Pattinson’s two-week quarantine, members of the crew continued to work on the project. It’s also been suggested that director Matt Reeves shot select sequences using Pattinson’s stunt double, likely scenes Pattinson wasn’t going to be filming himself anyways. However, WB has denied these rumors stating all production ceased on September 3rd to follow quarantine protocols.

It was less than a month ago that we were given the first teaser trailer at the DC FanDome event. During The Batman panel, Matt Reeves revealed that they had only shot about 25% of the film before production was suspended. With roughly 75% left to film and already another bump in the road due to COVID-19, there’s still a long road ahead to complete production.

The Batman is currently slated for an October 1, 2021 release date. Hopefully production can resume uninterrupted to meet that deadline. And hopefully when that day arrives, going to the movie theater will feel safe and normal again.
