‘The Dark Knight Returns’ Batman And Robin MAFEX Figures Up for Pre-Order

Article by Adam Poncharoensub

Sideshow Collectibles are on a mission to take all of our money. Considering what they have in store, I’ll gladly give up some of it. Available for pre-order right now are the Dark Knight Returns Batman and Robin MAFEX figures by Medicom Toys.

Do you know what MAFEX figures are? I didn’t. No, I’m not a serious collector, so chill out. After a quick Google search, I discovered that they’re a series of highly articulated figures made by Medicom Toys. Don’t be fooled, however. Just because they’re very poseable, doesn’t mean that they’re not high quality. This time around, Sideshow wants us to sacrifice our hard-earned cash for some TDKR MAFEX figures. Yeah, that caught my attention too. This time, we’re getting old Bats, in his blue Batsuit bearing the yellow crest used throughout Book 1 of the series, “The Dark Knight Returns” and of course, Carrie Kelley’s Robin.

Take a look:

The fine details:

These figures feature outstanding poseability and a movable stand. A variety of scenes can be reproduced using the attached cloth cloak with wires. Batman’s featured in the blue version, and also includes a Bruce Wayne head. Fans can reproduce all the comic-book action scenes with the same scale Robin figure!

This is a must-have for DC Comics fans.

The vibrant colors and detail in the sculpt are crazy. I personally always love cloth capes, as they give a sense of authenticity, and quality. These ones are better still, as they have wires in them, making them fully poseable. They also come with accessories not mentioned. Both figures will include different heads bearing different expressions, and, in the case of Robin, hair.

These Batman and Robin MAFEX figures run at around $170, and are currently available for pre-order here, with an expected arrival date between July through September 2021.
