Adult Swim’s Toonami animation block will feature two weekends of Batman animated films.
In anticipation of DC FanDome, the animation network will show various animated Batman movies. Starting on August 15th, it will feature Batman: Year One and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1. On August 22nd, it will broadcast Batman: Gotham Knights and Batman: Dark Knight Returns Part 2.
Toonami even launched a super cool TV spot to promote the mini-film event.
Here are the scheduled times for the movies.
August 15th:
- 12:00AM – Batman: Year One
- 1:30AM – Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1
- 12:00AM – Batman: Gotham Knight
- 1:30AM – Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 2
All these animated movies are absolute classics, and rank as some of Batman’s finest. Batman: Year One and the two Dark Knight films are virtually identical to the comics they’re adapted from. Many still rank these stories as all-time greats, almost thirty years after their original publication.
Batman: Gotham Knight is a wonderful animated anthology which uses many different styles and techniques. It’s part anime, part noir, and 100% Batman! Not only does this film stand as a solid piece of storytelling in its own right, it’s also the bridge between the first two Christopher Nolan films, Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight.
