Ruby Rose Gives Thanks to Cast and Crew on ‘Batwoman’

Article by Adam Poncharoensub

Nearly two weeks ago, the Arrowverse dropped some heavy news. It was announced that Ruby Rose, the actor playing Kate Kane/Batwoman, will not be returning for season 2 and that Batwoman will move forward with a new series lead. Rose would eventually provide a statement alongside the announcement, but since then, has remained silent. A few days ago, the actress took to Instagram to once again discuss her departure, giving thanks to the cast and crew on Batwoman.

Rose has not yet explained why she decided against returning, and it looks like her reasons will remain unspoken. There are reports from the set claiming that it was a mutual decision by both parties because of how unhappy Rose was with the strains of a being a lead in a television series. However, those reports are clearly unverified and should be taken with a grain of salt.

A few days ago, Rose appeared on Instagram, sharing a video from a fan, before addressing her silence.

Check out the post below:

The content is fairly vague, and not much can be gathered from it. In it, she acknowledges her silence thus far, remaining steadfast, which we have to respect. Despite this, she feels the need to give thanks to the cast and crew on Batwoman once more. She also mentioned how important the series was for television as a whole, and to the community, presuming the LGBTQ+ community.

Batwoman premiered incredibly strong, which prompted the CW to renew the series for season 2. A decent critical response likely contributed to its success, despite fairly venomous reception from the audience.

Batwoman aired its season 1 finale earlier this month and is currently available to stream on HBO Max.
