Earlier this week, Zack Snyder decided to drop the mother(box) of DC movie news. If somehow, you managed to turn a blind eye to the Internet, the unthinkable will happen in 2021. The #snydercut will be released after all. During a post-screening watch party of Man of Steel, Zack Snyder made the announcement with a graphic that just shocked all of the participants in the Zoom conference. Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be released on HBO Max on 2021. Yes, I’m still obligated to reassure that this is real. This is not a rumor, nor speculation. You’re not dreaming. Something else that we knew to be real for a quite some time was that JL was meant to eventually visit Apokolips and face off against Darkseid. Well, we’re now finding out who the Darkseid voice actor of Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be.
The appearance of Parademons and Darkseid’s insignia foreshadowed the appearance of the Lord of Apokolips, right? The theatrical cut of JL disappointed and instead we received the lesser Steppenwolf. However, Snyder has since confirmed that Darkseid was indeed supposed be the final boss in the planned Justice League Part 2. Apparently, the story was that Part 1 would have our heroes defeat Steppenwolf, ending the first part with the Leaguers facing a boomtube leading to Apokolips. Of course, we all know by now that Batfleck was supposed to sacrifice himself during their battle. An ending that I’m still very curious to see.
The voice of Darkseid
Apparently, Darkseid was cast, and as of yesterday, we now know who the Darkseid voice actor of Zack Snyder’s Justice League is.

Straight from the horse’s mouth. Announced over Twitter, Ray Porter introduced himself as the voice of our “live-action” Darkseid. Porter is an actor and audiobook narrator, with several voice acting roles under his belt. Unfortunately, I’ve never seen/heard his work. However, audiobook narrators tend to be very talented with their voices, besides having an overall pleasant timbre to them. One such voice acting gig was in the video game BioShock 2, where he played a side mission character called Mark Meltzer.
Here is a compilation of his various monologues from BioShock 2, just to give you a sample:
He’s quite good, and I do like the range and feel of his voice. It’s quite rich. However, is he right as Darkseid? Hard to say, at this moment. I’m hoping he’s able to affect a much deeper, intimidating voice. Any good audiobook narrator, when reading dialogue with more than one character, should be able to jump between different and distinct voices.
