Harley Quinn has returned to theaters in Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). A new movie, of course, means a new wardrobe for the Clown Princess of Crime. DC Daily sat down with Birds of Prey costume designer Erin Benach and discussed how she worked with Margot Robbie to design the perfect outfit for Harley Quinn:
Of course, when I signed on to the project, Margot had already been Harley Quinn. So she was my first and most valuable resource to find out more. I remember one of our first meetings she was just like you know, Erin, Harley is the kind of girl who’s just gonna grab something from a window and then keep walking. So essentially I kinda had the world at my fingertips. There were no limits to what she could have or use, you know, she has a very DIY sensibility about her. So I think a lot of this costume had to do with that. The idea that she might go into a party store, grab some party supplies, which is literally what we did.
DC Daily airs new episodes daily on DCUniverse.com and you don’t need to be a member to have access to new episodes of the show.

What do you think of Harley’s colorful new look in Birds of Prey? Do you prefer this to her Suicide Squad outfit, or the more traditional black and red costume?
