Review by Fay Clark

We get to return to our favourite place in Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy #3, anywhere they go, our girls always cause havoc. We last saw Pammy struggling with her form… and her sanity. Is it Harley’s turn to struggle with something this issue, or are we finally going to find out what all this “The Green” stuff is about? Your guess is as good as mine!

He’s a few of cards short of a full deck!

Wanna see a card trick? Ivy sure won’t after this. My suspicions were right, Mad Hatter makes himself an integral part of the plot. Jody Houser has this great knack for being able to let you in, a little bit a time, about what is going on, but ultimately we still know nothing! This is a writer that gets you involved with the story; you think you can see where it’s going, then, just as you get to the point were you’re ready to take up arms and go hustling with Harley and Ivy, Houser rips the rug out from underneath you. Yet I love it every time it happens, I do love a good surprise.

There’s so much that happens in this small comic: growth, secrets, love and friendship, just to name a few themes running through the issue. All I ever want to see is Houser making Harley and Ivy spend time together and be happy. She manages to put them through so much, while staying true to who they really are and to the strong friendship they’ve created over the years. This is really great to see, the last thing I would want is the girls to not be together.

As pretty as a Rose.

The very first page of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy #3 just slapped me in the face with how amazing the artistic team really is. I just sat there and looked at the stunning artwork for a solid two minutes before I continued to actually read the comic. Adriana Melo and Mark Morales are an absolutely cracking team and I’m sure I’ll continue to enjoy their work until this amazing series comes to an end. From the images above I’d like to think that everyone can agree we all got lucky when M² started working together. If you don’t agree I might just have to send out a couple of my girls to sort you out! I’m sure Harley and Ivy would be more than happy to pay you a visit.

Conclusion

I’ve yet to come across an issue in this series that I haven’t liked. We’ve had 3 so far and sadly only have 3 left. There’s so much to tie up and get done in those issues, but knowing the way Houser works I don’t have the slightest worry. Looking back I can already tell you that the girls have been through a lot, and I know they’ll have to go through a whole lot more before we finish.

I, for one, am looking forward to finding out what happens next and what crazy adventures we’ll be going on. I’ll be staying tuned, will you?
