Sideshow Releasing 100th Batman Black & White Statue

Article by John Hammond

Sideshow are to release what is their 100th DC Collectibles Batman Black & White statue. The great statues they’ve released over the years have celebrated many diverse styles of Batman art, particularly through 15 years of the Batman Black & White statue line.

The 100th Batman Black & White statue, which DC Collectibles have proudly presented, has been designed by acclaimed writer and artist Todd McFarlane, with art direction from Jim Fletcher, the sculpt by Jonathan Matthews and paint by Gentle Giant.

This is a milestone statue with Batman B&W number 100 being based on an iconic Batman comic cover. Batman #423 featured a cover drawn by McFarlane himself, depicting The Dark Knight caring for a damsel in distress.

The previous 99 DC Collectibles Batman Black & White statues reinforced the core values of the line, and McFarlane’s is no different, as it clearly represents the printed page in 3D form.

As Sideshow state:

The BATMAN BLACK & WHITE line brings to life interpretations of the World’s Greatest Detective and select Gotham City characters from the comics industry’s brightest stars

This new DC Collectible is now available for pre-order via the Sideshow website. I have no doubt that these will be popular, and with a limited run of 5000 they’ll no doubt go quickly. The statues have an estimated arrival date of May 2020.

Given half a chance I would be more than willing to get hold of one of these. The detail is perfect, making this a cracking addition to the collection. I’d love to read your thoughts on this, so please leave your comments below. If you manage to get hold of one of these when released, then please come back and tell us all about it.
