‘Titans’ Season 2 Synopsis Released, Expounds on New Team and Titans Tower

Article by Adam Poncharoensub

It’s no secret that my personal opinion of Titans Season 1 wasn’t glowing and yes, that’s an understatement used for emphasis. However, let’s move forward to Season 2, where the first trailer dropped earlier this month. Overall, the series looks like the tone is shifting. It feels like the tone is lightening up and finding a sense of humor, which I believe is a good move. We’re seeing the release of the official season 2 synopsis that’s expounding on what we briefly saw in the trailer.

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, take a look below:

Dick is finally embracing this team, and the new synopsis provides a little bit more on that subject, while also officially name-dropping Titans’ Tower.

New Titans family

In the groundbreaking first season, Dick meets Rachel Roth aka Raven, a young girl with special abilities brought on by a mysterious darkness inside of her that she struggles to control, and together, they find themselves embroiled in a conspiracy to bring about Hell on Earth. Joined by the mysterious Kory Anders aka Starfire and lovable Gar Logan aka Beast Boy, these lost and disparate individuals become a surrogate family to one another and a team of heroes for the world.

In season two, following the aftermath of their encounter with Trigon, Dick reforms the Titans. Under his supervision in their new home at Titans Tower, Rachel, Gar and Jason Todd train together to hone their hero abilities and work together as a team. They are joined by Hank Hall and Dawn Granger aka Hawk and Dove and Donna Troy aka Wonder Girl. Although these original Titans attempt to transition into a regular life, when old enemies resurface everyone must come together to take care of unfinished business. And as this family of old and new Titans – including Conner Kent and Rose Wilson – learn to co-exist, the arrival of Deathstroke, brings to light the sins of the old Titans which threaten to tear this new Titans family apart once more.

Did the Titans overcome the apocalypse so easily?

Based on both the Season 2 synopsis and trailer, they manage to get over that little hurdle of Trigon. It took them a while to set the villain up, so the fact that it’s glanced over easily just irks me. I mean, this was supposed to be the end-times, for Pete’s sake. However, I’m torn because I’m excited for a lighter Titans and an actual, official team. We learn that Dick is reassembling the old gang with the new set of youngsters. Also, it seems that what was clearly the centerpiece of the trailer is actually a remnant from their past. Deathstroke must have been a formidable foe and he’s returned. Just like the previous seasons, we’re likely going to further explore their pasts, but with higher stakes. The original Titans are going to have protect their young proteges from their stained pasts. Hopefully, it brings the family closer.

Yes, I would like more character-driven plots. Also, there’s a dog… I love dogs.

Titans Season 2 premieres on DC Universe on September 6th.
