James Gunn is certainly the man of the decade. He’s made two highly successful Marvel movies that fans adore and, despite being fired by Marvel, he was eventually re-hired to finish his trilogy of Guardians Of The Galaxy films. During the blank period where he lost his job from Marvel, he was hired by DC to helm a project that fans are pretty excited to see. While Gunn himself has remained quiet about The Suicide Squad, he has slipped one tease into a recent Instagram post.
Lots of unconfirmed news
There has been quite a lot of news surrounding The Suicide Squad. While Gunn and WB/DC have not confirmed anything concrete as of yet, rumors range from the roster of his squad to casting news. Regardless, a few days ago, Gunn took to Instagram to gush about meeting one of his heroes: Clint Eastwood. Politics aside, Eastwood is a bona fide Hollywood legend both as an actor and filmmaker. He has contributed so much to film in his nearly 6 decades in the business. So it makes sense that when Gunn got to visit the set of Eastwood’s latest flick, he would commemorate the occasion.
At least two more things we can expect from The Suicide Squad.
In the post, he eloquently extols Eastwood and his influence on Gunn as a young filmmaker. Take a look:
A pretty beautiful tribute to a Hollywood icon. However, what we’re looking for is buried at the very end of the post. Yes, that is James Gunn not-so-subtly slipping in a tease in an Instagram post. That’s sooo James Gunn… whatever that means. So apparently, if Gunn is not being facetious, we can expect “explosions and falling structures” in The Suicide Squad. It looks like this movie is going to be big and I couldn’t be more excited about it. In an age of social media, we should definitely come to expect a movie tease in an Instagram post. Gunn just happens to do it really well.
Here’s hoping that this means that we’re going to a spectacular flick that brings justice to the squad. With Gunn in charge, I definitely have hope.
The Suicide Squad hits theatres on August 6th, 2021. Stay tuned to DKN for more updates.
