Social media has truly changed the way we consume media. With big releases, we have to be extra careful to avoid spoilers online. Unfortunately, we’re not even safe with our favorite stars. If you haven’t been living under a rock, then you know that Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland of the MCU both have bad reputations for spoiling movies. Case in point, Holland revealed an important death in Avengers: Endgame on a talk show. Bad move, man. Did you know that this has happened before, though? With another beloved actor who has actually starred with Holland recently. Guess who? Okay, I won’t make you do that. A clip recently surfaced featuring the great Michael Keaton spoiling Batman.
You heard that right. Batman himself ruined a huge twist in one of the anticipated movies of that year. In case you didn’t know, Tim Burton’s Batman celebrated its 30th anniversary this week. To commemorate the occasion, writer Dave Itzoff took to Twitter to pour some salt in one of Keaton’s old wounds. It’s a very old clip featuring a young Keaton on Late Night with David Letterman. There, Keaton accidentally reveals the biggest plot point in the whole movie the night before it hit theatres!
It’s a quite a charming clip, take a look:

“Oh, I’m kinda blowing the plot here.”
Yes, in case you still can’t register it, that is Michael Keaton spoiling Batman. It just puts a smile on my face. I can just imagine Holland seeing that clip and racing to his phone to call Keaton.
Keaton: “Hello?”
Holland: “You hypocrite!”
Keaton: “What are you talking about, Tom?”
Holland: “You spoiled Batman before it came out!”
Keaton: “That was 30 years ago… How’d you know that?!”
Holland: “It’s on the Internet! You can NEVER tease me about this again”
Holland continues ranting while Keaton is silent on the other end. “Sound of Silence” plays in the background.
It just charms me to no end that Keaton was cast as the titular hero and lead of the biggest movie yet, and he drops such a bombshell spoiler. It mirrors the situation with Holland being cast as the titular hero, lead of his biggest movie and constantly dropping spoilers.
In conclusion, stars were dropping spoilers way before the MCU existed. It just travels faster and wider than ever before. So, whenever you get upset with Holland or Ruffalo, remember that one of your favorite Batman actors has done it too.
