Birds of Prey star Margot Robbie has revealed that it’s highly possible for the female team-up film will be receiving an ‘R’ rating.

In an interview with Vogue, Harley Quinn actress Robbie discussed the film’s tone. She considers it to be a street-level action flick and just because it has all-female leads, that doesn’t mean that it will be a lighthearted romp.

Robbie stated:

I think there’s a perception that a PG female-led action film is kind of considered a chick flick.

She also revealed that she developed and pitched the movie with a ‘R’ rating in mind.

‘Birds of Prey’ Budget and Production Schedule

Robbie’s own film company, LuckyChap, is heading up the production. According to her, the budget is $75 million. While this is an exorbitant price for a typical LuckyChap feature, it actually has the smallest budget out of all the DCEU movies. It’s projected to be even cheaper than the relatively low-budget Shazam!.

The movie already wrapped filming back in April. Additionally, the film looks to have been completed within the projected budget costs. This is nothing but good news for Robbie.

Well, we’re on schedule and on budget, which is a wonderful place to be.

Overall, it seems that the film is coming along swimmingly.

Birds Of Prey hits theaters on February 7, 2020.
