Kaley Cuoco Teases ‘Harley Quinn’ Animated Series with New Image

Article by Adam Poncharoensub

The DC Universe started with Titans, which I felt was a huge disappointment. Then, the glorious Doom Patrol came out. It’s a wonderful little show that embraces the strange and bizarre in such a beautifully captivating way. The series understood character development, taking a very slow and thoughtful progression towards the end, and was NOT afraid to break the fourth wall and poke fun at itself. This, in my opinion, seemed like it was righting all the wrongs of Titans. However, aside from Young Justice: Outsiders, there was one show that caught my attention. Despite feeling a bit apprehensive about it, I felt like this may be the show that could help bring in the non-believers. That show is Harley Quinn, an animated series featuring our favorite Jester-based villainess.

The icing on the cake, of course, was that it seems to be targeted toward adults.  I was always excited for it… but then that fantastic trailer premiered at NYCC last year, and I was 150% in!

If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out below:

This trailer literally had everything I was looking for, and more. It has beautiful, vibrant animation, lots of fourth wall-breaking humor, and Diedrich Bader as Batman! Also, just re-watching it now, I noticed that Ivy is reading Mad Love! What a nice touch!

Watch out for her bat!

Kaley Cuoco of Big Bang Theory fame has been hyping the series for some time now. Just a few days ago, she jumped back on Instagram to reveal a new image, and I don’t have the words to describe how great it is:

The picture showcases another look at the beautiful art and animation style of the series. There’s a fair amount of blood splattered on her bat and camera lens. Grotesquely carved into her arm is “Fall 2019.” This reinforces that this series will focus on the adult demographic with plenty of violence.

Also, we’re finally getting another, fully rendered look at her new attire. Prior to that, the trailer shows Harley in her traditional Jester outfit, but this image harkens back to that very first image teasing the series that you can see below:

I’m just speechless. I’m so unbelievably excited to see this series. For me, it seems like while the DC Universe was seemingly saved by Doom Patrol and likely will continue that momentum with Swamp Thing, but it’s Harley Quinn that will finally win over those holdouts.

I hope they make a passing joke about DC’s infatuation with the women of Big Bang Theory considering that Melissa Rauch, who plays Bernadette on BBT, also played Harley in Batman and Harley Quinn.

The Harley Quinn animated series is tentatively scheduled for October this year on the DC Universe streaming app.
