New Justice League Logo To Debut For 60th Anniversary

Article by Max Byrne

Calling all Justice League fans… all Justice League fans come in! As this year marks the 60th anniversary of the iconic heroes teaming up, DC are marking the occasion with a new Justice League logo for the comic title, which will adorn the cover from issue #25 onwards.

According to DC’s website, the new logo is inspired by past iterations, featuring “clean lines and a signature star, that has appeared on many of the Justice League logos through the ages.” The logo, sporting the League’s iconic red and blue colors, can be enjoyed in its full splendour below.

A new era begins for the World’s Greatest Super Heroes this June! JUSTICE LEAGUE #25, which kicks off DC’s Year of the Villain on June 5, 2019, will also feature a new logo! The updated logo debuts ahead of the 60th Anniversary of DC’s flagship superhero team and features clean lines and a signature star that has appeared on many of the Justice League logos through the ages.

The Justice League first appeared as a team in THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #28 on December 29, 1959 with cover art by Mike Sekowsky and Murphy Anderson before launching into their own title, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA, in 1960 after just three issues. THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #28 also debuted infamous Justice League villain Starro the Conqueror, who is currently a Justice League team member under the nickname Jarro. The first Justice League team logo, colored red, white and blue and flanked by stars, was used on issues of JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA from 1960 through 1987.

Nearly sixty years later, the Justice League still handles threats too massive for any single hero. Made up of the World’s Greatest Super Heroes, their membership inflates and contracts around each new threat, with a current core lineup of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl. In JUSTICE LEAGUE #25, former Justice League hero turned Legion of Doom villain Lex Luthor makes the world an offer: Reject the Justice League, make this the Year of the Villain, and follow Luthor’s evil plans to save humanity…because justice isn’t getting the job done!

In addition to continuing the team’s adventures, Justice League #25 also launches DC’s summer event: The Year of the Villain. The issue will find Lex Luthor offering the world a choice: “Reject the Justice League, make this the Year of the Villain and follow Luthor’s evil plans to save humanity” — or suffer.
