With so many upcoming Batman-related films coming out, it’s reasonable to ask “Where is the OG Batman?”
A comical fan and Reddit user coreyp0123 has created a spoof-poster of The Batman… and guess what he’s targeting?
FAN-MADE: New theatrical poster for upcoming “Untitled Batman Film” from r/DC_Cinematic
The poster pokes at the issue of the film still remaining untitled, as well as not knowing for sure who will play The Dark Knight. This really leaves fans questioning the validity of the DC Extended Universe, and whether Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League will remain valid films.
In addition to that, the release date is extremely ambiguous, with two DC/Bat-related films coming out Joker (April 5th, 2019) and Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (February 7, 2020), fans are left in the dark on when The Batman takes place and in which continuity.
Please, dear Goodness, let The Flashpoint Paradox come in and save everything. There must have been a reason for that scene in Batman v Superman where Flash showed up for questionable reasons.
And Warner Bros. could have avoided all this if they didn’t release news so early.
Some wholesome thoughts have come out of all this, however. It appears Matt Reeves, the official director of the film, speaks passionately about the project. The chance to direct Batman is probably the dream of thousands of American comic book fans. He shares:
From the beginning, what I had always spoken about with Warner Brothers and what I was excited about was being in the Bat-universe and really doing something within that sphere. That was always what it was going to be so in that way it hasn’t changed a lot since I first met with them. It’s very much the same thrust if that makes sense.
A lot of things have happened since then but the movie, and why I’m excited about it, is it continues to be the same inspiration and excitement of what we talked about in the beginning.
Upcoming DC films are Shazam! on April 5, 2019. Followed by Joker on October 10, 2019, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020.
Please don’t hype us up any earlier than two years in advance, Warner Bros. Be classy!
