Review: Batgirl Annual #2

“The Brightest Star In Heaven”

Writer: Mairghread Scott

Artist: Elena Casagrande

Wow, what an issue. I’m loving what Mairghread Scott is doing with the character of Batgirl. The build up in this comic is something akin to a Thriller movie. Scott does a brilliant job at driving the narrative one way, before twisting down another route.

On the chase to catch a serial killer before they strike again, Barbara is forced to face a part of her past she’d rather forget. Is this just a one time deal though, or is this something she can longer keep hidden? I know I’m going to be reading the next issue to find out!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable comic from Mairghread Scott and Elena Casagrande. The pair pull all out stops for this epic story. Casagrande’s art style really adds to the whole Thriller vibe that Scott is putting onto paper.

Conclusion

A great read, and hopefully, not just a one-off story. I want more!
