Visual Effects Reel Reveals More Unused Content from ‘Justice League’

Earlier this year, artist Christian Lorenz Scheurer uploaded a collection of gorgeous concept art of Justice League onto the Internet. At the time, it revealed a different third act. In the theatrical cut of Justice League, Steppenwolf attempted to terraform the Earth to create a new Apokolips, but didn’t quite succeed thanks to the interference of those meddling superheroes. However, the concept art revealed that when the League finally arrived to do battle, the big bad pretty much succeeded by creating a little piece of Apokolips on Earth.

For the most part, it was nice to view and admire, but it was nothing more than a “What if” scenario, because it simply didn’t happen.

Until we found out that it might have.

Wait, did you see that?

A visual effects reel by Blind LTD surfaced online last year, but nobody seemed to notice it. It’s a pretty spectacular piece of special effects work showcasing some of the good parts of JL‘s CG.

Take a look:

Did you see it? Something in there seems familiar, but not something that we actually have seen before.

Earlier this week, the @DCEUnited Twitter account finally noticed it and cut a clip from the reel and juxtaposed it against Scheurer’s concept art.

Soo, that pyramid surrounded by devastated Earth was rendered at some point. Well, time to throw some propane over the #ReleasetheSnyderCut movement and watch the Internet blow up. Overall, this lends a LOT of credence to the idea that whatever Zack Snyder planned was filmed and had gotten to the post-production stage where CG and special effects were added, but was abandoned in favor of whatever excuse for CGI was in Joss Whedon’s JL. This means that there likely is a finished cut locked somewhere in the secure vaults of WB. If only Batman actually existed, maybe he’d be able infiltrate WB headquarters and steal it, because we don’t have more pressing needs for a superhero like Batman.

As I said before, I do think that the Snyder Cut does exist, but I really, really doubt that we’ll ever see it for whatever reason WB believes will help them save face.

What do you think? Is it possible that there is a finished cut somewhere?
