Over the past few years, DC Comics has been releasing “The Unwrapped” editions of some of their most popular stories. These highlight the original pencil artwork of classic DC stories in black and white.
Previous editions have included Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s Batman: The Court of Owls, Geoff John and Ivan Reis’ Blackest Night, and Grant Morrison’s Batman R.I.P. Jim Lee, DC Entertainment’s new Chief Creative Office, has shared the next story to join these collections.
Batman: Hush was originally released from 2002-2003 by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. The story introduces the villain Hush, and shows Batman fighting through most of his rogues gallery to unravel the mystery of this new villain. The story establishes a romance between Batman and Catwoman that continues to this day, with the two being wed soon. It also introduced the idea of Jason Todd still being alive, leading to his resurrection as Red Hood later on.
While I personally think this story’s sequel, Heart of Hush, is vastly better, Hush is certainly a classic and is a great jumping on point for anyone looking to get into Batman comics. It was the first graphic novel I personally bought and started me down this path.
Batman: Hush was originally released in the Unwrapped format in 2011 and will be seeing its re-release in September. Will you be adding it to your collection? Let us know!
