Ryan Reynolds (Maybe) Reacts to ‘Teen Titans Go!’ Trailer

Deadpoolactor Ryan Reynolds took to social media to react to the Deadpool name drop in the Teen Titans Go! To the Movies trailer.

In the Teen Titans trailer, the team meets Deathstroke- I mean- Slade (played by Will Arnett) for the first time. However, they mistakenly identify him as Deadpool. The joke is a reference to accusations how Deadpool’s co-creator Rob Liefeld blatantly ripped-off Deathstroke. Reynolds naturally responds to the joke by making a humorous jab of his own.

Thanks, Ryan Gosling!

So there you have it, straight from Ryan Gosling’s mouth: Deadpool and Deathstroke are not the same.

In all seriousness, while they may have resembled each other initially, Deadpool and Deathstroke are very different characters. Many of the idiosyncrasies that made Deadpool popular – like his motor mouth humor and fourth wall breaking – is not like Deathstroke at all. While Deathstroke/Slade has been played mostly straight in his adaptations, it will be interesting to see Slade in a more comedic style. Clearly, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies’ Slade is much sassier and over-the-top than previous versions.

Teen Titans Go! To the Movies hits theaters July 27, 2018.
