DC Kicks Off Spring With A New Digital Series Featuring Suicide Squad

DC starts off Spring with a brand-new Digital First series: Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay. This new series is a sequel to the upcoming DC animated series from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

The series is written by Jeff Parker, the writer of Batman ’66, and it focuses on Amanda Waller’s escape from the brink of hell. The first chapter is available now.

“Our story picks up immediately after the Hell to Pay animated film, and Waller is still on a personal mission to save her soul—and she’s willing to put the Suicide Squad through hell to do it,” says Parker. “This time, the Squad goes way out of their element and around the world to face supernatural and ancient forces—and yes, Harley is in there too!”

Amanda Waller’s Task Force X has completed another mission—and in her opinion, the prize was worth the price they paid. But with the Spectre closing in to take Waller’s soul, she must find a new means of escaping death. Now looking to Jason Blood as a possible ally, Waller may face a revolt from her own team for this latest addition to the Squad. Is membership in the Suicide Squad really better than imprisonment at Belle Reve?

The series will have a 12-week run, with weekly releases. The illustration team so far is Matthew Dow Smith, with future chapters from artists Agustin Padilla, Stefano Raffaele and Cat Staggs.

The art looks incredible. I’m so happy to see a series focus on Amanda Waller because she is BOSS. Viola Davis in the live-action Suicide Squad film nailed her character. She perfectly portrayed her brilliance and dominance. She deserves so much of DC’s attention and it’s wicked they’re giving it!
