Poison Ivy Meets Jack the Ripper in a Dark Alley in New ‘Batman: Gotham by Gaslight’ Clip

What if one of our favorite femme fatales from the Batuniverse were to be cornered in a dark alleyway by the infamous Jack the Ripper? Most times, they’d be able to handle themselves and get rid of a murderous psychopath with ease. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be the case in this new clip released by WB.

In a new clip from the Batman: Gotham by Gaslight movie adaptation, it looks like a version of Poison Ivy may be on the receiving end of a dagger.

Dark Alleys May Be Good for a Couple Things

Check out the clip below:

I’m not quite sure the context of this clip. Was Ivy genuinely afraid and resorted to seduction to not be killed? Or was she expecting someone in that alley? Also, shouldn’t Ivy be able to fight Jack the Ripper with ease? It seems like this Ivy from the 1800s is simply not equipped for fisticuffs. It’s also possible that Jack the Ripper is just far more of a threat than we anticipated, if he’s matching wits with the Batman.

Either way, I’m not particularly pleased with the way Ivy is being portrayed here, but it’s completely out of character. We’ll find out more when Batman: Gotham by Gaslight is released. The original one-shot comic book was written by Brian Augustyn with art by Mike Mignola. It was considered the first Elseworlds story.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight hits digital shelves on January 23, 2018, with physical media following on February 6, 2018.
