And what a trailer it is!
There are Samurai swords, kicks, punches and fight scenes that are touted to be some of the very best ever seen in animation. The character of Batman has always been one that fits the code of honor of the Samurai. Though, having no Master, perhaps the sobriquet of Ronin would be more fitting.
Seeing the Dark Knight, and his companions Robin and Nightwing brought to life in this fresh new way is truly exciting.
There’s no shortage of classic Batman baddies in this movie either! The Joker, Two-Face and Catwoman all show up in this incredible preview!
Adult Human Ninja Batmen
The feature’s creators Junpei Mizusaki, Takashi Okazashi, and Kazuki Nakashima had much to say on the subject back in New York, this past October, as did Warner Bros. Home Entertainment head of publicity Gary Miereanu.
Gary Miereanu: “There’s a fight scene in this that might be the best fight scene I’ve seen in animation anywhere.”
Junpei Mizusaki: “When we want to make it look real, we actually do it in real life. We want it to be true to life. Every action – from the way blades are gripped to the swift and brutal blows – had a real life counterpart.”
Leo Chu: “It was extremely difficult, but we have a long history of working with Japanese animation. Warner Bros. very much left the filmmakers alone in making this movie, so what you’re going to see is something authentically anime. When they came to us, we made it authentically Batman.”
Eric Garcia: “We’re not seeing Japan through the eyes of Batman, we’re seeing Batman through the eyes of the Japanese. The movie is a love letter to the Batman mythos, with a cache of easter eggs and surprises for fans.”
Batman Ninja will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in 2018. I cannot wait!
