Batman’s Role is Clarified in New ‘Justice League’ Featurette

AT&T released a new Justice League featurette starring Ben Affleck as Batman.

Batman’s role in the League

There is not much new footage of the Dark Knight in the video. Despite that, Affleck confirmed that not only is this film about Batman learning to work as a team, but also being a leader. Affleck on Batman’s character arc:

“In the new movie Justice League, we see the evolution of a new Batman. He’s moved on from lone vigilante to recruiter to leader.”

This is the first confirmation that Batman will lead the team. It is an interesting deviation from the source material.  Traditionally, Superman leads the Justice League in the comics. However, given that Superman is currently dead when Justice League starts, the leadership position is left vacant. When Superman inevitably returns, will Batman cede command to him?

Justice League will hit theaters November 17, 2017.
