Monster News – Halloween ComicFest Announces Free Batman Titles

A list of my all-time favorite things will include: comics, Batman and giant monsters. So what could be cooler than Halloween ComicFest announcing that the opening chapter of “Batman: Night Of The Monster Men” will be reissued as a free comic book for Halloween 2017?

Yes, you heard that right… FREE!

Halloween ComicFest takes place on the Saturday on or before Halloween at participating comic shops worldwide. This year’s event will be on Saturday, October 28th and will feature a whole new selection of 30 comics, including two titles from DC.

Part One of “Night Of The Monster Men” comes from the creative team of Steve Orlando, Tom King and Riley Rossmo, and reprints Batman #7.

The second book – also Batman related – is a DC Superhero Girls issue. This story features Batgirl and Harley Quinn, is written by Shea Fontana, and features art by Yancey Labat and Agnes Garbowska.

This initiative is terrific for promoting reading to kids of all ages, and encourages comic stores to give them out as gifts, and trick-or-treat freebies.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

Halloween ComicFest spokesperson Michael Moccio had this to say:

We’re so excited for Halloween ComicFest this year, (HCF) continues to grow year after year. With this year’s selection of titles, we’re confident 2017 will be no exception. There’s something for everyone, and we’re excited for all the trick-or-treaters this year to get a whole new batch of mini-comics featuring a great variety of titles!

What could be more Halloween than characters in colorful costumes, mayhem, madness and monsters? The free chapter of “Night Of The Monster Men” alone is well worth checking out. This story was the first ever DC Rebirth Crossover. The complete arc ran through Batman 7-8, Nightwing 5-6 and Detective Comics 941-942. If you want to read the whole story, it’s also available in a collected edition.

A complete listing of all 30 HCF titles can be found in Diamond Comic Distributors’ PREVIEWS catalog. Fans are encouraged to pre-order to ensure they’re available at their local comic shop come October.

Happy reading, folks! Be sure to lock the closet and check under the bed…
