Everyone has heard about Prince Charming. He comes in to save the day to rescue a damsel in distress from a spell from an evil witch, falls in love with said damsel, and they live happily ever after. The princes of Snow White or Cinderella are probably who you’re thinking of right now.
Starting this November, European comic book creator Enrico Marini (Le Scorpion, Eagles of Rome, Gipsy) will be making his debut in American comic and mainstream superheroes with his two part graphic novel series called Batman: The Dark Prince Charming.
Who else is worthy to go against Batman’s Dark Prince than the Clown Prince of Crime himself, the Joker. The official description of the story by DC is as follows:
“What secret connection to both Batman and the Joker share with a strange and mysterious young girl? After she’s kidnapped by the Joker, Batman must plunge deep into the underworld of Gotham City and race against time to find out where she’s being held. The stakes are high, and for Batman, it’s personal!”
Some artwork from the story has also been released.
No word yet on Catwoman’s role, but one would expect her to be at odds with Batman at some point and then end up reluctantly helping him.
In terms of the story, if I’ve learned anything from fairy tales, it’s a safe bet that the Joker will stash the kidnapped girl in the tallest room of the tallest tower at some point. But we’ll just have to read the story to find out.
Book one of Batman: The Dark Prince Charming is on sale November 1, with book two expected to hit shelves in Spring 2018.
