DC at San Diego Comic Con 2017

San Diego Comic Con is right around the corner (only 12 more days, but whose counting?), and it’s never too early to take a peek at what to look forward to.  With new video games, comics, movies and more on the horizon, DC’s Booth (#1915) promises to be the place to be this year.  Also, if you are unable to make it to San Diego in person, DC All Access will be live streaming from DC’s booth for the first time ever this year.

Firstly, in the world of comics, there will be a spotlight panel for the countdown to Doomsday Clock on Thursday with the writer and producer, along with DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, and will be moderated by DC Publisher Dan DiDio.  Johns will also be at the DC booth on Friday at 1:30 pm for an exclusive fan signing.

On Friday, legendary duo Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo will be talking about Dark Nights: Metal, which will set the stage for the title Dark Matter in 2018.  Snyder and Capullo will be greeting fans during a signing event at DC’s booth on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Moving over to DC Films, there will be a display of new costumes and props from this November’s Justice League, along with a cast signing on Saturday with stars Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ezra Miller (The Flash) and Ray Fisher (Cyborg)!  No word on Henry Cavill (Superman), but hopefully he makes an appearance as he did last year, going incognito as a fan.

Now, let’s use the Speed Force and go back in time for a second.  The year was 1992, during the episode “Joker’s Favor” in Batman: The Animated Series, the world was introduced to Dr. Harleen Quinzel a.k.a. Harley Quinn.  This episode marked her first appearance in any Batman media.  Originally meant to be a one time character, Harley won the hearts of many fans.  Flash (see what I did there?) forward back to 2017, and we are now celebrating the character’s 25th anniversary.  Joining Harley’s co-creator Paul Dini, top artists and writers for the character over the years will come together to celebrate and discuss this beloved and deranged psychiatrist.

By popular demand, the interactive green screen is making its return at DC’s booth, which will allow fans to pose in backgrounds featuring their favorite DC characters from comics, films and games.  It will also include Harley Quinn from DC Universe: Rebirth, Batman: The Animated Series, DC Super Hero Girls, Justice League, as well as a surprise reveal taking place on Friday.  Oh, what this writer would give to be able to sit at the Batcomputer from the cave in Batman: TAS.

Not to exclude the DC gamers out there, Injustice 2 from NetherRealm Studios and DC will be hosting a tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6 pm.

All of this and PLENTY more will be happening throughout the weekend at the DC booth.  The DC All Access app (available on the App and Google Play Stores) with have a complete list of all panels, scheduled signings, behind-the-scenes coverage and in-depth interviews.

San Diego Comic Con will be running from July 20 – July 23, 2017 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Will you be at SDCC 2017?  What are you looking forward to most?  Let us know in the comments!
