Animated Comic Is Set To Feature Harley Quinn And Her BFF Batman

Any team up with Harley is a dream team. Psychopaths and heroes make the cutest duos, case in point:

Harley Quinn and her bff, Batman are coming out with a brand-new Digital First comics series: Harley Quinn and Batman. The story pulls from Batman: The Animated Series, and writer Ty Templeton and artist Rick Burchett is putting out this new five-chapter prequel adventure to the Batman and Harley Quinn animated film which Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release this upcoming August. Templeton says:

Batman and Harley, Joker and Ivy, Nightwing and Catwoman. Is there a better cast of characters anywhere in fiction? I spent some of the best years of my career working with these icons and could not be happier to be returning to Gotham City and their adventures. And to top it off, I get to work with the incomparable Rick Burchett again! Pinch me, I’m dreaming. We’re getting the band back together!

Harley Quinn is unique. She wasn’t introduced by comic canon, but through Bruce Timm’s Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. Since then, she’s become such a beloved and major canon character who even carries her own comic series (check out DKN’s reviews on the latest issue!)

She is no sidekick, and once she finds out that the Joker thinks of her as one, she takes revenge. She plans to become her own super-villain and one-up the Clown Prince. Burchett tells DC Entertainment:

I spent quite a few years working with these characters in this art style. It’s like visiting old friends. For me, though, the best part is having the opportunity to work with Ty Templeton again. It’s been way too long.

The digital series will go live on Monday, July 31, with the five chapters being released bi-weekly. To add to the excitement, they are creating a sequel! Beginning in October, seven sequel chapters will be released digitally each week. Renamed to (although, I prefer Harley being first!) Batman and Harley Quinn. This will be a collection of stories relating to the events of the animated film. These chapters will feature stories and art by Jeff Parker, Craig Rousseau, Luciano Vecchio, Amanda Deibert, David Hahn, Dario Brizuela, Matthew Dow Smith, Sandy Jarrell, Ty Templeton and more. In summer 2018, all chapters will be put together in a paperback and released in one collection. Digital chapters will be available for download beginning July 31 2017 through the DC Comics App, readdcentertainment.com, iBooks, comiXology.com, Google Play, Kindle Store and Nook Store.

About The Movie

In Batman and Harley Quinn, the eco-terrorists, Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (a.k.a. The Floronic Man) being a mission to save Mother Earth. And what’s the best way to save Earth? Well, eco-terrorists believes it is to wipe out all humans. Poison Ivy is one of Harley’s greatest loves and partners (a heck of a lot better than Joker) and so Batman and Nightwing are forced to have Harley Quinn join their team. However, an uplifting psychopath can be a lot to handle for a brooding bat and his patience is worn thin through Harley’s tangents. This creates a thrilling yet hilarious setting. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, the all-new, feature-length animated film arrives August 15 on Digital and August 29 on Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Deluxe Giftset, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, the film is set to release digitally on August 15th, and on August 29th on Ultra HD Bluay.
