Tim Seeley Talks About Drawing Nightwing

SyFy posted a video showing off Nightwing writer Tim Seeley’s drawing skills.

Seeley shows off his art abilities by illustrating Nightwing in the video demonstration. Fortunately, he is as good of an artist as he is a writer. Bat-fans know Seeley best from his writing credits on Batman EternalGrayson, and of course, Nightwing. However, fans of Seeley also know what an awesome artist he is, with pencilling credits in G.I. Joe and Lovebunny & Mr. Hell.

Seeley on How to be a Good Comic Book Artist

Along the video, he provides helpful hints and commentary for any budding comic book artists out there. On the topic of break into the comic book industry as an artist:

“People think that there’s a real simple answer of, ‘How do I get into this?’ and they want you to say, ‘You’re ready to go. Go to it, kid!’ and it’s like, ‘No, it’s going to take twenty years of hard work and suffering and occasionally having to work a day job and being late on your rent and all the things that no on wants to hear.”

While it may seem bleak, Seeley also gives a tip on how to continually improve one’s art skills.

“You have to draw and draw and draw these things a thousand times and the proportions sorta get etched into your brain hopefully. I know that I have to take life drawing classes, like, every few months I have to go back and take a bunch of figure drawing classes.”

Seeley currently writes-but unfortunately does not draw- Nightwing.
