The ‘DC Super Hero Girls’ Creative Team Signs On Free Comic Book Day

May 6th, 2017 is Free Comic Book Day. The creative team of New York Times bestselling graphic novel, DC Super Hero Girls will be signing on this day. Shea Fontana, Yancey Labat, and Monica Kubina are some of the brains behind this inspirational graphic novel series, starring iconic female superheroes. They will include a sneak peak of Summer Olympus, due out this summer. Fans will have a chance to meet the writers and artists of the critically acclaimed series at Earth-2 Comics’ Northridge and Sherman Oaks locations on May 6th.

Involving more girls and women in comic book narratives is a growing issue and it’s getting more attention and care which is amazing.

DC Super Hero Girls is an empowering story where young girls discover who they are and their purpose in this world.

The characters are confident and powerful, but they also battle their own challenges. Thus far, the series has involved Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, and Bumblebee. Reading the interactions between these beloved heroines is phenomenal. It’s a world and story that is rarely portrayed. At most, we’ll have one or two heroines interact with our heroes, so this graphic novel is certainly a pleasure and treat.

To add to this, DC will be giving away a Wonder Woman issue on Free Comic Book Day. Greg Rucka, New York Times best-selling writer and the admired and talented artist, Nicola Scott, create an anticipating issue of Diana’s first year as Earth’s protector. The story entails an adventure where Diana’s home of peace, Thymescira, is under distress by Aries. The Amazonians are to name a champion of their own. A champion willing to sacrifice all that she knows and loves to save the world she has never seen. A fighter for Peace.
