Justice League director Zack Snyder took to Twitter the other day to share a very intriguing new bit of footage. The very brief clip shows our first glimpse of Atlantis, as well as the Ocean Master.
Some have speculated that this scene will be used down the line in Aquaman’s standalone film. That doesn’t sound likely. Given Snyder’s involvement with sharing the footage, it definitely suggests we’ll be seeing Atlantis in Justice League this November. Exactly how much we’ll see has yet to be determined.
Purely speculation on my part, but this scene could likely take place after Arthur’s first meeting with Bruce Wayne. The previously released footage already shows us that Aquaman turns down the offer to join the team at first. It would make sense to see him return home to weigh the decision.
We also know that Atlantis factors into the plot of Justice League as the Atlanteans were part of the original truce to hide and protect the three Mother Boxes that form the main plot of the film.
Whatever the case may be, this is a fantastic first glimpse at a huge landmark and huge character from the comics. However Atlantis factors into play, it’s great to have an idea what it will look like, especially as production on James Wan’s Aquaman solo film gets underway.
