“Fatman” Says No To Batman

With Ben Affleck’s departure as director from his solo Dark Knight movie, many have speculated who will take over the film. Affleck has a history with famed director (and host of the podcast Fatman on Batman) Kevin Smith. Smith wrote the 1999 film Dogma in which Affleck starred with Matt Damon.

It would stand to reason, with Smith’s past directorial efforts, his love of comics and his friendship with Affleck, that he would be a worthy successor to helm the Batman movie starring Affleck. Wall Street Journal sports writer Jared Diamond took to Twitter to ask about the chances of “Fatman” directing Batman:

Here’s how Smith responded:

It seems that Kevin Smith won’t be directing Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight anytime soon. We will have to settle for him taking control of DCTV heroes properties like Supergirl and The Flash. Actor Robin Taylor, who portrays the Penguin on the series Gotham, recently requested that Smith oversee an episode. We fans will take anything we can get of Smith shepherding a Batman on film… even a pre-Batman.
