With The LEGO Batman Movie and New York’s Toy Fair on the horizon, fans can expect to see more toy sets dedicated to our favorite bricked Dark Knight and his rogues gallery.
Each of the new LEGO sets for the upcoming movie feature Batman, one of his villains, and at least one main vehicle.
The “Scarecrow Fearful Face-Off” set contains Batman and Scarecrow, along with the Scarecrow’s gyro-copter that is equipped with mini-fear gas bombs. But, is a gyro-copter the most efficient way to distribute fear gas? It feels like Scarecrow is asking for Batman to glide down with his rocket pack and punch him in the face. The set is retailed at $14.99.
Perhaps the most surprising choices were made in the “Bane Toxic Truck Attack” set. It features Bane and his toxic truck, Batman and his Whirly-Bat (!), and amusingly the Mutant Leader with a flaming torch. Maybe LEGO was hoping for a Dark Knight Rises and Dark Knight Returns crossover where Batman fights the Mutant Leader in the mud pit as Bane is on the side pontificating about the socio-economic class warfare. This is set is bigger and costs $49.99.
Of course, one makes you wonder about the vehicle of choice for the “Two-Face Double Demolition” set. It contains Batman and the Bat-cycle, two Gotham PD figures, and Two-Face and his double-sided excavator digging vehicle. Why a digging vehicle for Two-Face? Batman’s Bat-cycle can literally ride circles around the sluggish excavator. Anyways, the set will go for $59.99.
On the flip side, the “Batwing” set looks to be the crown jewel of this line. It stands with a massive 18 inches wing span, a mini-car, and has dual cockpit for both the Batman and Robin figures that come with the set. Also included in the set is Harley Quinn and a cannon with hopes of shooting down the dynamic duo once and for all. This set is retailed at $89.99.
The LEGO Batman Movie comes out on February 10, 2017.
