New VR Experience takes you inside the Batcave

For what Bruce Wayne makes in ten seconds, you can now visit the Batcave in the style of the seminal Batman: The Animated Series that ran on FOX Kids from 1992 until 1995.

Just released on November 15, 2016, a virtual reality accessory that was designed for the View-Master VR Viewer by OTOY and DC Entertainment to work with the Samsung GearVR app for Samsung Galaxy phones. The View-Master VR Viewer looks much like the toy from your childhood, but with a pretty sweet upgrade, complete with 3D immersion in Gotham. The desire to bring childhood to life is foremost on the mind of OTOY founder Jules Urbach, “Batman: The Animated Series and View-Master were fixtures during that part of my life. The creative energies I put into OTOY goes all the way back to my childhood.”

A number of iconic trophies shown in the new Batman : The Animated Series VR Experience.

The experience is full of BTAS alumni from the co-creator Bruce Timm, Emmy award-winning writer Paul Dini, and quite fortunately for us, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will be continuing to reprise their roles as Batman and the Joker respectively. Loren Lester who voiced Robin (and Nightwing for the revamped The New Batman Adventures) and Tara Strong who voiced Batgirl (also in The New Batman Adventures) will also be returning. Timm and Dini were on-hand to assist the design of the project, in order to insure devotion to the beloved show.

Not only can you step inside the Batcave and go on a tour, the press release also indicates you’ll be assisting Batman on missions to tackle The Joker, Two-Face, and The Riddler; in addition to piloting the Batwing. Perhaps this will only be the first in a series of adventures with the animated (virtual) Bat? We know Kevin and Mark are always willing to delve into these characters.
