‘Suicide Squad’ Achieves Another Box Office Milestone

Despite its 26% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Suicide Squad continues to have critics scratching their heads as it becomes the 50th highest grossing movie of all-time in the United States.  To add more fuel to the fire in the Marvel versus DC war, the film that was dethroned from the Top 50 is none other than Iron Man, the one that started it all for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As of this article, the domestic box office for Suicide Squad is now standing at $318,584,857, passing Iron Man’s $318,412,101.  Although the “Worst Heroes Ever” have had stronger legs at the box office than the World’s Finest earlier this year, it will still be difficult to pass Batman v Superman’s $330,360,194 thanks to the latter’s monstrous record-breaking opening weekend.

Suicide Squad is also continuing to do well globally, with a gross of $731,584,857, all without the help of the massive market in China.  So despite what the critics had to say about the film and the lukewarm reception it got from general audiences, the film is certainly not without its share of fans.  But as we mentioned last week, if Warner Bros wants to have strong brand recognition when it comes to their DC films like Marvel has, then there’s still plenty of room for improvement.

Margot Robbie has confirmed she will be producing a spinoff Harley Quinn movie and you can take it to the bank that with the financial success of this film, that WB will be bringing Task Force X back again in future DCEU movies.
