In what was likely one of the smartest moves by DC/WB given the level of anticipation, the Batman: The Killing Joke animated adaptation will be hitting theatres for one-night only following its premiere at Comic-Con. The home media release is almost 2 weeks following the premiere, but it’s obvious that people will be dying to watch it before then. So why not make a little extra cash before it’s widely available for the masses to consume?
As previously reported, the special event will also include an introduction by Mark Hamill as well as a documentary on how Hamill was cast, which is so wonderful given that Hamill has for years discussed and dreamt of voicing the Joker in an adaptation of the Killing Joke. At the end, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes featurette on the Joker’s infamous song.
As of Friday, the tickets are now on sale for July 25th, at select cinemas all over the US. Fathom Events, the folks organizing this shindig, has a complete list of theatres. Check it out to see if it’s coming to your hometown.
Otherwise, purchase your tickets here and do not miss out.
Batman: The Killing Joke will be premiere at San Diego Comic-Con this summer. It will then be released digitally July 26th, the day after it hits theatres. The physical copy will be out on August 2nd.
